When it comes to gaming, the question of needs has already been settled. Anyone interested in playing and enjoying a wide range of games will undoubtedly have a better experience on a PC, as this platform offers more options in numerous ways. There are some fantastic games set to release in 2025, but PC gamers will likely enjoy them more. 8 The console war is over

Was it ever really a fight?

Phil Spencer just admitted that Microsoft is no longer trying to lure PS players to its platform. Flagship exclusives like Forza Horizon 5 are now coming to the PS5 as well. The lines between platforms have never been as blurred as they are today, with first-party exclusive titles also making their way to PC.

On the other hand, almost all first-party Xbox titles have always been on PC through Game Pass. The major reason behind getting a console, i.e., exclusives, is rapidly fading away, making the PC the place to be. Almost all first-party exclusives are either coming to PC or are already here. For other titles that gamers should play, like games on the Nintendo Switch, we did have Yuzu and Ryujinx before Nintendo shut them down.

7 Old games never die on PC

Digital time machines

On consoles, game preservation is often merely a corporate afterthought. If you want to revisit an old favorite, odds are that you’d have to pay for yet another re-release — if one even exists. Meanwhile, the PC is effectively a digital time machine where generations don’t matter. Backwards compatibility has never been a “feature” to advertise the life out of — whether through official stores, fan patches, or dedicated preservation communities, there’s always a way to play.

From DOSBox keeping 90s classics alive to emulators letting us experience childhood gems, no games are truly lost on PC. On consoles, gamers might have to wait for companies to throw them a bone, while they can simply hit a download button on PC. Truth be told, community fixes run better than official ports half the time.

6 PC mods keep games alive

PC doesn’t wait for Definitive Editions

When it comes to old favorites and classic games that every gamer should play, the PC is the place to truly enjoy them. Why wait years for an overpriced “Definitive Edition” for a classic when the PC community has already done the job for free? Whether it’s a complete graphical overhaul for Morrowind or adding Shrek to Resident Evil 2 just because, mods keep old favorites alive for generations after they come out.

On consoles, however, you either pray for an official remaster or settle for a nostalgia-tinted experience, bugs and all. On PC, the community does what the devs won’t — fixing bugs, balancing gameplay, and even adding entirely new content, sometimes reviving abandoned games from the digital graveyard. Bethesda’s games practically rely on modders to function properly, and let’s be real — who doesn’t love a modded Skyrim running smoother than a fresh-out-the-box console port?

5 Power to the player: unmatched performance & customization

Unbridled control

As enjoyable as most games on consoles are, you only get what the developer gives you. The PC, on the other hand, offers pure, unfiltered creative control. Want 4K at 120FPS? Done. Want actual native resolutions, or higher shadows over ray-tracing? Your call. Consoles lock you into the settings they deem acceptable, but gamers on PC get to tweak, overclock, and mod their way to perfection.

Upscaled resolutions, frame rate caps, and “performance modes” on consoles are just workarounds, to be honest. Workarounds that the PC doesn’t need — run games natively at whatever your hardware can handle. Sure, some of us might not want to tweak settings in-game for hours, but it’s good to know that we can make older or unoptimized games run smoother. While consoles might play the game for you, the PC lets you decide how you want to play.

4 Still no multiplayer paywalls

Play what you pay for

Yes, this argument still exists — online multiplayer is locked behind a paywall. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PlayStation Plus, or Nintendo Online — whatever the name, it’s all the same: a subscription just to play games you already own online. Meanwhile, PC gamers have been tag-teaming with friends for free since the dawn of online gaming. You might talk about consoles being cheaper than PCs, but services like paid multiplayer for your entire life is how you end up paying hidden costs.

Many multiplayer PC games use dedicated servers, meaning they don’t get shut down as soon as the publisher decides it’s time to move on. That isn’t the case for console players, who are at the mercy of corporate decisions. On the PC, if a game still has a community, the odds are there’s a way to keep playing, either through official servers or fan-run alternatives.

3 Upgradability on PC remains supreme

The ultimate longevity buff

If the PC is so great, why is there no PC 2? That’s because you don’t have to shell out hundreds of dollars every few years for slightly better hardware. Need better graphics? Swap out your GPU. CPU bottleneck? Upgrade it a few years later. RAM feeling a little light? Throw in another stick when you can. Instead of replacing an entire system, just replace what actually needs upgrading on your PC.

Not only does this save money in the long run, but it also keeps your system future-proof. A well-maintained PC can last multiple console generations, evolving alongside the latest games instead of being left behind. There’s no PC Slim or PC Pro to wait for — just customize and optimize your rig for whatever’s next.

2 Emulation, baby!

The ultimate backwards compatibility

Generation gaps might exist for consoles, but on the PC, every generation is at your fingertips. Whether it’s a PlayStation classic, Nintendo gems, or even legends from old arcades, emulation turns your rig into the ultimate all-in-one gaming machine. There’s no need to dig up an old console, hunt down overpriced cartridges, or wait for a possible re-release — just emulate and you’re golden.

Owning a single console would lock you into its ecosystem, but PC gaming transcends those boundaries. From retro nostalgia to modern releases, your PC library is limitless. There’s more, too — along with emulation, you can even enhance classic games with higher resolutions, better frame rates, and quality-of-life improvements. The past never dies on PC — it just gets graphical upgrades.

1 PC gaming's creative control extends beyond the screen

The Swiss Army knives of tech

Absolute creative control over your gaming experience on PC isn’t limited to the screen — it extends to your desk as well. Mechanical keyboards, high-DPI mice, and ultrawide monitors with sky-high refresh rates — PC gamers enjoy hardware that simply outclasses anything that consoles offer gamers. Want a controller? Take your pick — Xbox, PlayStation, or even custom-built options.

You’re never stuck with what a console brand thinks is “good enough”. On PC, gamers build their setups their way — ensuring that every game feels, looks, and plays exactly the way you want it to.

Consoles are great, but PCs are greater

Look — console gaming is great, and there are no arguments there. It’s simple, it’s accessible, and gaming on a console really is a no-nonsense, fun-filled experience. However, PC gaming is objectively superior when it comes to sheer power, freedom, and longevity. Mods, emulation, unmatched performance, and free online multiplayer — the advantages are undeniable. Consoles are fun, but PCs are the ultimate gaming machines — once you experience the limitless potential of PC gaming, there’s simply no going back.
